Oh yeah, I’m ready for the weekend!
I have a fun party at my mom’s tonight, all ladies from what I can gather, and there will be some fun ones in attendance! I’m looking forward to lots of laughing, a little wine, and good food – what more could I ask for?
And tomorrow night Cathie, Tina, and I are getting together for our first Art Journal night. I can’t wait to see what kind of mess we’re going to get in! π
I have a Paperie Pick post going live later today or tomorrow at The Paperie blog, so look out for that – it’s all about club kits and here’s a sneaky peek:
Finally, some fun news I’ve been holding onto – I’m a hostess for Week 2 of Index Card a Day over at Daisy Yellow! There will be 1-2 hostesses each day of Week 2 using one of the 10 prompts to make their card. It starts today, so go on over and check out the fabulous cards today’s artists created! And look out for my post on Monday – I’m hoping for some good inspiration from my prompt by then…
Have a great weekend!

The card for June 5 was a doozy. It just wouldn’t work for me – thank goodness for children!
How about if I explain that a little? π
This card started with the most amazing wash of blue and teal and green watercolour paints. It was gorgeous. Sigh.
Then I used a stencil and Distress Ink. Yuck. I’ve now ruined my beautiful background and have nothing. Frown.
And then M let out a roar, “G is ruining my paints!”
That G… He rubbed his paintbrush into all the pots until we had a lot of brown mud and a very unhappy painting girl. So I took a napkin and wiped out each pot, cleaning them all out and explaining to the 3-year-old that it wasn’t nice to ruin his sister’s things (I’m 99% positive it went in one ear and straight out the other).
BUT…. I had this napkin full of cool colours. Hmmmmm.
I peeled apart the layers, tore off a section, and used Matte Multimedium Β to adhereΒ smoosh it onto my card. Tore the edges, leaving them ragged, and let it dry. Pretty cool.
And then I noticed the stencil showing through the napkin – even cooler! A good mist of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls, a great Ali Edwards Stamp, and a wood veneer heart. Awesome!
See that blue? That’s in M’s Crayola set – so beautiful!
My kids saved my butt today!
And now, here’s the very special card:
M made it herself! And she stopped painting before it made brown sludge (that’s normally her end point!) She had cut the top off the card before painting so she picked several Washi tapes to stick it back on – that was the only thing I helped with, lining them up over the seam properly.
Don’t you love it? Wait till you see tomorrow’s! π

This one turned out a little more interesting than I expected due toΒ the Perfect Pearls Mist and how it reacted to the texture gel I used. The outcome was a pretty cool effect!
I first laid down a Christy Tomlinson SheArt stencil and spread Liquitex Coarse Texture Gel over it. Normally I’m too impatient to wait for it to dry and heat set it, which makes some neat effects, but this time I was busy during the day and so it had time to dry on its own.
Once dry, I did one quick spray with Adirondack Color Wash, misted with water to get it all to spread and blend, and then dried the card. I stamped a sentiment and *almost* called it boring, but done.
But I had to add some shimmer, just had to add something to give it a little more oomph. So I sprayed Blue Patina Perfect Pearls Mist, assuming I’d get a bit of blue shimmer over the whole thing and make it a little more fun.
Boy, was I wrong! For some reason, the texture gel resisted the mist, causing it all to pool in the spaces between and making them super blue and shimmery – awesome! I love the Blue Patina colour so was very happy to really see it stand out and it looks amazing with the purple mist!
Isn’t that the coolest? All in all, this turned out way better than first thought – I love unexpected outcomes!
Stop back tomorrow, I have two cards to share – one is a very special one! π

1. The Paperie is having a *huge* day on Saturday! It’s their anniversary so almost everything will be tax free, the May club kit is going live (and I have it on good authority that it’s amazing this month!), there will be a fabulous bake sale, and there will be a Mother’s Day card Make ‘n’ Take! You should definitely all go – it’s going to be a great, and yummy, day!
2. Speaking of the bake sale at The Paperie, the person doing it is none other than Krista! Along with being a talented scrapbooker, she’s also an incredible baker! I bought some things from her shop, Taffety, at Christmas and they were to die for! For instance, I am not a caramel fan, too sweet and sticky for me, but she made these Salted Caramel Shortbreads and I think I ate the whole container myself – oops! She’ll have those there on Saturday, along with Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies, and more. Yummy!
3. Check this out. Goes along very nicely with yesterday’s post and is an awesome technique that I have to try!
4. And speaking of the Spring Seasonal Distress Inks Β – they could not be much better. An awesome yellow, a beautiful lilac, and the most incredible teal, called Peacock Feathers! Going to be my new fave for sure!
I swiped each across Specialty Stamping Paper, then pressed down the ink pad at the top to show the more intense colour. Love! Check outΒ thisΒ great video showing how these colours fit into the existing palette.
5. One of the best tools I have in my scrapbooking arsenal was free. You can go to the Ranger website and, for most of their products, you can download label sheets and Colour Charts. I use these all the time and people are always asking me where I got them – here they are! The charts are great for knowing what colours you have left to buy and for knowing what colour ink to use; the labels make is super easy to Β find the ink colour you’re looking for!
Have a good one – back tomorrow with a couple of easy cards using the new Distress Ink!

I spent this past weekend, from Thursday night until Sunday evening, at The Paperie Spring Retreat. It’s held twice a year at The Wilds on Salmonier Line and there are normally about 70 women scrapping, talking, laughing, drinking, eating, laughing, creating, demoing, laughing…. We have a great time though we do come home pretty tired (notice I didn’t mention sleeping in that list above!)
This year The Paperie added 5 demos given by the Creative Team – mine was on Alcohol Ink and everyone loved the Marbled Technique I showed you a few weeks ago:
Thanks to Peggy for the pics while I was demoing! And a side note: see that girl in blue, leaning on her elbows? That’s Colleen – go check out her blog too, she’s pretty awesome!
Anyway, a very special and exciting product came in right as The Paperie girls were packing for the retreat, so they brought it out to sell and asked me to demo that too! The Dylusions Ink Spray from Ranger!
To say I was excited that these finally arrived is an understatement! I went a little crazy, to be honest – Krista called them “scrappers crack!” π But they’re just so pretty:
Seriously though, the colours are unlike anything else I’ve tried, and Ranger has perfected their misting bottles – from Dylusions to Perfect Pearls Mists to Adirondack Color Wash, they spray beautifully, never clog or leak, and just simply work right.
Graham, I wish you were here – you and I could have a fun and messy blast with these babies!
I was so excited to get my hands on them that I made the covers of my Get Messy album immediately:
The colours look fairly muted and pastel here, but that’s because I kept blotting and drying the cover. When the mists were originally sprayed, they were super bright and intense – maybe I’ll try to put together a blog post showing them.
Even without my newfound love in hand, the weekend was amazing! I did crash today – thank goodness for nap time! – and I have a feeling tonight will be an early one as well.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a new Tuesday Techniques Series – I hope you all want to learn about fun things to do with dry embossing!

1. Love these girls! Have one piece and am saving for more. Fun, quirky, colourful, and oh so Newfoundland! My piece is called Uncle John’s Longjohns and it has a pair ofΒ onesie jammies hanging on the line. π
2. G likes monsters these days so if we ever get around to a birthday party for him, I think his cake will be something like this – hilarious! I have big plans for the addition of cake pops too.
3. Seriously? This is genius!
4. You know I love a good tutorial, no matter how quick and easy, so here’s a good and trendy one – make your own chevron!
5. I have such great, talented, and fun local scrapping buddies – go check out Krista, Cathie, and Colleen and leave them some love! Can’t wait to see you all this weekend!
I’m off this evening for 3 nights and 3 days of scrapping fun – I can’t wait! Hope you all enjoy your weekends whatever you may be doing!

he…
… just turned 3. How in the world did that happen?
… loves his trucks. He got remote cars from P & C for his birthday and they’re a huge hit!
… will not have anything to do with toilet training. Not a thing. Suggestions would be appreciated! π
she…
… is in her room having a melt down. You’d think she’d have learned by now – stubborn is not even the word.
… had a great eye check up last week and improved one full line of vision in each eye! Crossing our fingers that the patching will be on the shorter end of the time frame.
… loves the self timer on the camera and is constantly asking me to letΒ theΒ camera take her picture. Not me, just the camera!
he…
… is building the fence that divides us from our attached neighbour. Technically, it’s her fence but we share it so he’s building and she’s doing most of the buying.
… is not taking many pictures these days. Which means I’m using all my own shots – and they’re just not as good, trust me!
… is going to bed early these days and then complaining when my cold feet hit him and wake him up! π
she…
… cannot wait for the Paperie Retreat this weekend. Fun, laughter, drinks, and some scrapping – fun times!
… is loving the selfies. I hate getting my picture taken so this is a quick and easy way around it!
… is liking her hair curly / is too lazy to straighten it each morning! Either way, I’m embracing the craziness of it!
Sorry about the lack of crafty eye candy lately. I’ll have some crafty links tomorrow and have a post ready to go Friday while I’m gone that will be crafty goodness too!

… because today just totally got away from me. π¦
I think all the documenting and photo taking and blogging last week burnt me out for this week! Plus I’m going to the semiannual Paperie Retreat Thursday night and I’m busy, busy, busy getting ready for that.
And then a friend called this evening asking for help so I did that rather than blog, which had been my intention.
Sorry! π
Expect quick blog posts this week and back to normal on Monday!
Thanks!

So, this week just gets busier all the time! So much for a regular week to do this project – then again, is there any such thing as a regular week?
I thought I might be on top of things yesterday, but then I got an email from Meghan wondering where my biweekly Paperie Picks blog post might be…. So much for being caught up!
M had kinderstart yesterday morning and didn’t want to finish her milk (daily fight; she hates it, I say too bad for her), M and G spent the night at Nanny and Poppy’s house so there was the rush to get them there, then D and I went for dinner, and once we were back again, I had a post to write but ended up falling asleep on my keyboard (literally, it was pretty bad!). Now, how’s that for a run on sentence!
Here are some pics from the day (I have others that are great each day, but they’re of the kiddies I look after. This project is wonderful for their parents, picture wise!):
Back tomorrow with some more!
