Project Life, The Collins Rep Group

I’m still going, still keeping up, and still loving Project Life. Here are weeks 5 & 6. as always, click any pictures to see them up close and personal!

We headed into October this week and so the kiddies got new winter hats they had to wear, even though we still were having summer temps.

I also managed to get downtown to see a reunion of Critical List, a local band I love, and met up with some old friends who I hadn’t seen in ages. The end of the week brought my trip to Orlando for the Collins Rep Show and the beginning of some fabulous classes!

My favourite part of this week’s LO was the insert:

M drew a picture of “mama and daddy, with flowers and fireworks, because I’m having a good day!”

Onto Week 6:

M’s Thanksgiving poster in one insert and my October 12 on Twelve in the other.

The end of the week me back home again, doing self timer pics with the camera – the kiddies favourite thing – M getting her regular 3 month eye check and a new prescription, and G getting a hair cut.

The beginning of the week was more Orlando and scrapbooking fun!

My favourite picture of the whole week was this one with Dyan Reaveley:

An update, brownies, and a class I took…

Sorry for the little blog break here – I’ve been crazy busy since returning from Orlando and there just aren’t enough hours in the day…

I’ve been completing the few unfinished projects from the show – I made 7 mini albums plus other items so there was a lot of little odds and ends that needed a final touch or two!

Bazzill – Christmas Lickety Slip Album

Creative Imaginations – Beautiful You Mixed Media Album

Basically Bare and Graphic 45 – Nutcracker Suite Easel Album

7 Gypsies and Canvas Corp – Epicurean Library Drawer

Creative Imaginations – Holly Jolly Altered Album

I’m only showing you the sneaks here of a few things but if you want the full reveal, all the details, and to hear about the fun we had then you need to sign up for the Show and Tell at The Paperie on Tuesday, October 23! I think there may be some giveaways too…. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m heading over to have wine and chit chat with a friend tonight so I thought I’d bring some goodies with me – brownies!

Brownie Batter!

I took two of my favourite recipes, made a change or two and combined them to make gluten freeย mascarpone brownies with ricotta topping. They look and smell yummy and I’ll post an update later with how they taste! I already know the batter was good….

And they really should be good because if there’s one thing I know how to bake well, it’s brownies! That’s not ego my friends, it’s just the simple truth! ๐Ÿ™‚ But I can’t roast a chicken to save my life….ย UPDATE: They are the bomb…. ๐Ÿ™‚

yummy, yummy in my tummy!

Finally, I carved out a little time on Saturday morning to take a class from my friend Rae Lynn, the queen of clean and simple LO’s – her work is always gorgeous! She has started a new class series to do a Book of Me and the two LO’s we did are awesome!

I only took one picture with me for the class but the sweater I was wearing was the perfect colour for the papers and since Miss Smarty Pants Rae Lynn brought her camera and Canon Selphy printer, we took a snap, printed it and I was in business! It always feels good to go home with a completed LO!

i am…

I changed this second one a little – the background paper was a light tan/brown and I had a piece of Bo Bunny Vintage Double Dot paper that was the exact shade of my shirt so I used that instead. Also, I think I’m going to change the title to “An unexpected pleasure” and do my journalling on one thing rather than do a list of several “simple pleasures.” I could have had this one done but I was really uncertain about the journalling and decided that focusing on one unexpected pleasure – my camera – would work better for me for this LO. So now that I’ve settled on that, it will be done tonight, RLOK, I promise!

an unexpected pleasure

I love how the bright background paired with the black title, splatters, and stars make my camera pop!

And that’s been my life this week, crazy and full – how have you all been?

1. As you’re reading this I”m flying to Orlando! Yay! I’m headed off for four days of classes and workshop with the best in the industry at the Collins Rep show. I’m excited – the show in Houston last year was fabulous so I know what toย anticipateย this yearย andย it makes me even more eager to be there!

2. Aussie Scrap Source has a great tutorial on altering pictures with paint. I definitely have to try out the first technique, the sample looks amazing!

3. I love this card by Shari Carroll. It looks fabulous and is so easy! I took a Hero Arts class from her in Houston last year and she and Jennifer McGuire were amazing! Unfortunately, neither are there this year but I’m sure the HA teachers will live up to my expectations!

4. Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is up to her creative genius again! She has an awesome ย tutorial on how to make your own vellum leaves – a must try!

5. There’s a few videos here on the new Ranger Metallic Distress Stains. I don’t think I need to tell you that I’m excited to be trying those this weekend with Tim Holtz! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll be away from blog land until late next week but look for a full post then about the Collins Rep Show!

Exciting news…..x2!

Create: For the Home, Northridge Publishing, The Collins Rep Group

Lots of fun news for me in the past couple of days and I can’t wait to share it with you all!

Have you seen this magazine yet? I love it – getting my print subscription every month makes for a great mail day!

For a long time, friends have been encouraging (aka badgering and harassing) me to submit some work to publications. I actually did submit one piece years ago but that was it. When I started this blog I thought that maybe I should finally heed their advice. And the first time I tried I had a piece accepted!

The exciting news? It’s finally in print and….. it’s a double pager!!!! And I will just say that seeing it in print and photographed professionally made it worth the small fortune it cost me to ship it in! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, call The Paperie, they have a bunch coming in, reserve a copy and then check out page 118!

Second, many of you will remember that last year The Paperie took me to Houston for 4 days worth of classes and workshops from the industries best – Tim Holtz, Jennifer McGuire, Shari Carroll, Mitra Friant, Cheryl Mezzetti, Candy Rosenberg, and so many more! I was like a kid in the world’s largest candy store – it was kind of ridiculous actually. ๐Ÿ™‚

This year, I am lucky enough that they have asked me to go to the sameย Education and Trade Show with them but in Orlando this time. And although I don’t know yet what classes I will be taking, the line-up of instructors is amazing – Ranger – Tim Holtz, Dyan Reaveley, The Crafter’s Workshop – Jamie Echt, Creative Imaginations – Cheryl Mezzetti, Basically Bare – Angela Pruitt, Lawn Fawn – Kelly Marie Alvarez, Impression Obsession – Mitra Friant, and so many more, like Hero Arts, Queen & Co, 7 Gypsies, and My Favourite Things!

You all know what this means right? Lots and lots of fabulous inspiration and amazing classes when I return! Who wants another weekend full of awesomeness like last year? ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, me too!

So there’s all my news, hope you’re excited for it all too!
