To all my fellow Canadians – Happy Canada Day! I hope you are having a great holiday with fabulous weather and amazing people around you!
To all my fellow Newfoundlanders, take time for Memorial Day today. Here in Newfoundland we remember the battle at Beaumont-Hamel during WW1 before we celebrate. It was day of tragic losses for us and the number of young men who never returned home was almost unimaginable. Take a moment for them.

Another month, another Show & Tell at Simple Scrapper! I love this time of month and seeing what the other Creative Team members create! Even better, I really love to see what work other people link up in the Show & Tell – I’m blown away by the talent and creativity every time!
Here’s what you’re getting from me this month.
My story starter LO uses an old template from the February 2012 Members library:
I have to say, that library of sketches for members is fabulous, varied, and oh so easy to use! Being able to search for a sketch based on size, number, or orientation of my pictures? Awesome.
I had fun with my vintage typewriter this month and did the journaling for both LO’s with it:
Some fun washi and cork stickers in the corners finished this one off:
My template LO used some fun pics I took of the kids and I while we hiked Signal Hill one day:
I used wood veneer on this one, coloured with my red Wink of Stella pen – those go over wood veneer like butter!
Make sure to head over and see the Show & Tell and add your own link so I can check it out!
Both LO’s this month were made with The Paperie’s June Page kit which I love, love, love! Last I saw they had a couple left so go grab one or contact them – they can ship! 🙂
I have another post today since it’s Canada Day here and Memorial Day for Newfoundland so don’t miss that either!

Molly has a birthday party tonight and normally she makes all her own cards but she went straight to a friend’s house after school today so I was on card duty.
Seriously, I couldn’t tell you the last time I made a card to give away – my kids make them all!
I only had about ten minutes but I really wanted to play with The Paperie Retreat exclusive paper doll card kit. This is what I came up with:
Let me tell you, I felt like I was five again – I loved cutting out all those little pieces for the clothes and glittering up her shoes!
Quick and easy, but I think it’s pretty cute. 🙂

Posted in Classes, ScrapBook, Yearlong Album
For the April Yearlong Album class I took things a little more mixed media:
I love how the resist and texture turned out with the Distress Stains we used for colour:
I have to admit, resist techniques are my favourite! Give me a new resist medium, or a new way of combining resist ideas and I’m a happy little camper! 🙂
I also stick to some basics for me and one of those is this trick:
A few taps of mist or paint perpendicular to the photos to draw your eye across. If you go back through my LO’s you’ll see this trick quite a bit. I also love how it adds a bit of colour without overwhelming your nice open white space.
Things are crazy here, as always, and amping up as the weather turns (slightly) warmer. More outdoors time and less computer time so as usual, summer will be slower on the blog than usual. Of course, it’s been slow here lately anyway so you probably won’t notice a difference – oops!
One reason for the craziness is some classes I’m prepping for – and I’m excited about this one:
A kid’s summer mini album, open to ages 10+. We’ll be playing with heat embossing, dry embossing, alcohol inks, making our own stencils, and more! Details will be added here when available but the date will be July 6. Hopefully, I’ll see some of your kiddies there!

P.S. Happy Friday the thirteenth! And its a full moon to boot – let’s bring on the crazy!

I taught a super fun class a week or so ago, one that I loved designing as it was a little out of my wheelhouse – it was all about boys!
If you’re a scrapper or cardmaker I know that you know what I’m talking about – boy stuff is hard! We love our embellishments and flowers and hearts and glitter and… Yeah, not so masculine!
So I decided to have a class that centered all around boy LO’s and cards. Here’s what we made!
A bunch of arrows and a bright and colourful grounding line made of banners:
The arrows are attached to the photo which is mounted on an envelope to add more space for extra pictures or journaling:
The second LO has a fun line of squares:
And we kept the embellies simple with mist, enamel dots, and skinny striped washi tape:
The cards had a big focus on the alpha stickers:
and arrows:
I’m starting to think towards to second class in this mini series: Let’s Hear it for the Girls! I have some awesome paper pulled and can’t wait to start getting glittery! 🙂

A while back I blogged about a new class series I was teaching called Distress Renewed. This is going to be bimonthly and a few weeks ago we had our second class. This one was all about Dylusions Ink Spray – one of my most fave products!
Our first LO was all about using Dylusions to make a watercolour background with resist, complete with misted ghosting and bleach out clouds:
The second layout was showing the blendability and fun properties of the sprays:
Love how water ghosting works on these!
I also had fun with my new-to-me vintage typewriter and the alpha stickers included in the class for the title work on this one:
Finally, we made card fronts using a bunch of techniques:

watercolour painting and scribble
And that’s it – fun times getting messy and inky! Next class will be all about Distress Paints and I can’t wait to play!

The June content for Simple Scrapper is now out and all the Premium Members are, I’m sure, enjoying their new templates and Spark magazine. Here’s what I did this month!
I actually made two LO’s for the same story starter this month, but used two different templates. The first one was using my April 12 on Twelve pics:
I loved using my new Ali Edwards stamps for this – they were perfect! And the tile was fun to do with all the alpha stickers on my Bella Blvd. sheet:
I used my May pics for another LO:
I used the same alphas and idea for the title here and with both LO’s I used my newly found typewriter for the journaling!
This was so much fun that I think I’m going to have to do all my 12 on Twelve pics this year the same way.
My template only LO was a mixed media one and I love the colours. They worked perfectly with a pic of Molly, Gabe, and I at Easter:
I layered a transparency over the crayon resist and added twinkle stars for some shine:
To keep the shimmer going, I added sparkle buttons to a crumpled doily in the top corner:
I love little embellishment clusters in the corners of LO’s!
Be sure to go check out the Team Gallery this month to see the Team’s favourite LO’s and then go check out the Show & Tell. Don’t forget to leave a link to your own work and then hop around and enjoy the eye candy everyone is posting!
