Lunch Box Notes, One Happy Mama, Printables, Stardust pen, Wink of Stella, Zig

Sorry I went MIA but I was visiting my brother on the other side of the country and the time change did me in! Seriously, 4.5 hours messes with your system! Anyway, I’m back and have something fun to share with!

In case you haven’t seen it yet, this month Jennifer McGuire has been having a Share Handmade Kindness challenge over on her blog and lots of great people in the industry have been joining in, sharing their talents, and donating prizes. This is the last week andย the theme is Kindness & Giving Back.

To join in with the fun, Kristina Proffitt of One Happy Mama has designed two awesome printables and is sharing them for free on her blog!

I love putting little notes in my kids lunch boxes so these were awesome for me!

lunch box notesI printed them in vanilla cardstock, cut them out with my paper trimmer and then used my Zig Gelly Roller Stardust pens and some Zig Wink of Stella pens to bling them up a bit.

lunch box notes - pinkHad to point out the “amazing” with arrows on the pink one!

lunch box notes - redLove that smiley face!

lunch box notes - orangeI had fun with the orange one – clear glitter on the rainbow and fun patterns on the “big” word.

lunch box notes - yellowI had a great time blinging up the scallops!

lunch box notes - greenSome subtle sparkle for the green.

lunch box notes - blueAnd the blue was my fave! I coloured the heart and blinged it all up!

You’ll notice I also doodled lines around the edge of each card – that just my jam, peeps, I can’t help myself!

The second printable Kristina shared is an 8×10 print that would be perfect in a classroom, bedroom, pretty much anywhere! I have to get a frame a put it up in our hallway – it says, It’s Cool to be Kind.

Head over to One Happy Mama and leave her some love in the comments – such a fabulous gift for her to give! And of course, download the printables, they rock!

Cheers,

S.

November 11, Remembrance Day

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Today, take a few moments to remember, to honor, and to be thankful.

Halloween!

Halloween

We had a fabulous Halloween this year! It all started over a week ago at the church, continued with Trick or Treating with friends, and ended with a sleepover at Poppy’s house. I think it was a success.

Molly decided months ago that she would be Pippi Longstocking, with Mr. Nilsson:

pippi

Gabe was a doctor:

togetherThen we headed off and met up with friends:

m,g,h,hAnd then joined more friends:

the crewAnd had a ball going from house to house with the T-Rex following them all!

trexOur final stop, as always, was my dad’s house for supper and this year, a sleepover. Dad always dresses to match his pirate friend:

poppy caseThen I headed home to get ready for my own Halloween party at Emma’s house!

the adult crewEmma magically changed from a T-Rex to She-Ra and naturally had her sidekick, He-Man along for the ride. We were also joined by BatDad and Jen! And although, according to my brother, I look like a Popple, I am actually the Cheshire Cat. However, the popple idea is good!

So fun times all around – good food, lots of junk, and entertaining costumes – all that Halloween should be!

Cheers!

Trunk or Treat!

Halloween, trick or treat

This past Sunday our church held its annual pumpkin carving night. Yes, our church celebrates the pagan holidays. No, we don’t care, we actually love how spirited they are. Yes, we had an awesome time!

molly

This is always an event the kids look forward to – we bring our pumpkins, the church has templates, snacks, and games available, and we have fun. This year there were tattoos and face painting as well so the kids really had a great time.

gabe

Gabe picked out a template and after Darrell gutted both pumpkins, I drew the design on and he carved it out:

gabe pumpkin

Molly, of course, didn’t want a template, she wanted a bunny. Sitting. With kind of floppy ears. Friends, I cannot draw. Not even a little bit. Sigh. This is what I carved out for her – luckily, she was happy enough with it!

molly pumpkin

After the pumpkin carving all the kiddies (who had been told to dress up), lined up and went to the parking lot for a round of Trunk or Treating!

kids

Have you all heard of this? I hadn’t and it’s the most genius idea ever! All the cars lined up with their trunks (or the boot as my friend Emma and my stepfather would say!) pointing out into the parking lot.

Now, to backtrack a little, before the kids went up the adults were told to go get ready so Darrell went to open the trunk and get the candy ready. Then I got a text:

text

When we went out, I got it. These people are seriously *into* Halloween.

car2

All the trunks were decorated. There were lights, and decorations, and smoke machines (really) and people pretending to be decorations but would then come to life.

car1

One car had a seemingly benign setup – there were bags of chips so you could just take one from the trunk. And then a hand would grab you and yank you in. Molly and Gabe could not get enough of that one – they thought it was hilarious!

car

To say they had the best Halloween ever is not an exaggeration. The fact they get to go door to door and do it all again on Saturday? Icing on the cake, my friends, icing on the cake.

Cheers!

*Sorry friends – this didn’t post yesterday!*

2015-07-01 16.31

Happy Canada Day friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful and relaxing day celebrating with family and friends!

forget-me-nots

This is a bittersweet day for my fellow Newfoundlanders as it is also Memorial Day for us, commemorating the loss at Beaumont-Hamel of 90% of the Newfoundland Regiment in WW1.

Party hard today, and take a moment to remember.

Simple Scrapper | June 2015 & SALE!

29 Friday May 2015

Posted by Sara in This & That

Today I not only have layouts to share but Simple Scrapper Sale info too! Now’s the time to join friends! I’ll give you more details later so keep reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

saleMy template/sketch LO this month uses an old Story Starter but it was perfect for this picture that Molly took when we went hiking and iceberg watching a few weekends ago:

family photographerI kept it pretty simple and left lots of white space. I used Amy Tangerine kraft Thickers (totally love these!) and coloured them with black Wink of Stella for sparkle and colour. I also added some black embellishments below the photo for another pop of black:

family photographer - embelliesFinally, to add some more interest and texture, I layered cheesecloth and drywall tape behind the picture:

family photographer - textureI’m definitely going to need more of this drywall tape which isn’t available in Canada. What?!?!? I have to give a big thank-you to Cathie who gave some of her stash (and thanks to her hubby who had to go shopping while in the States, lol!) So…. any US friends want to ship me a package? ๐Ÿ™‚

My Story Starter LO uses a background I made while demoing in class and an old, old pic from an awesome exchange trip I took in high school. It’s a really grainy photo but it has some of my favourite people in it and brings back the best memories!

back of the bus 5I used some old fabric frames from Dear Lizzie and layered them sideways to mat the photo. Then I added a bunch of phrase stickers from Simple Stories Dear Cheese line – it’s not just for Disney memories!

I actually hand wrote my journaling – shocking – and used the last words as my title, which I highlighted with Thickers:

back of the bus 5 - title and journalingAnd then I added enamel dots, a camera, and cork heart to finish it all off:

back of the bus 5 - embelliesAs always, check out my sidebar and go visit the other girls on the team because they made some beautiful layouts this month!
