12 on Twelve, Cats, kiddies, Oppidan

Friday was the 12th again – love this day every month!

1. G playing with trains while waiting for Poppy to take him swimming.

2. My monthly selfie in the porch mirror.

3. Writing the blog…

4. Lunch – ham and cheese with “salad” as M says!

5. Nana came by and played memory.

6. M colouring a picture – she’s big into grass and sky lately.

7. L, G, and E playing outside, with clothespins – fall weather has finally started.

8. Miss Crankypants – sigh.

9. The only way M is happy about pics is if I use the self timer – she loves that!

10. Ella was spayed and by the time D brought her home she was more than ready to get out of a kennel.

11. Funniest moment of the day – M putting Chapstick all over G like makeup and saying, “Ok, close your eyes now sweetie.” Hilarious!

12. Dinner at Oppidan with a crowd of girlfriends. As scrapbookers and foodies we take pics of everything but somehow we all missed the amuse bouche we were given. I asked our waiter to get us a picture and this is what he came back with – one with the chef who made it!

Another great day – lots of tears, laughs, and everything in between!

FarmHouse Paper Company

1. Did you all miss me? 🙂 I’ll say yes, you did!

I had an awesome time in Orlando where I took a bunch of classes and workshops for the Paperie. Trust me, there are some a. ma. zing. classes planned so if you live in NL or want to plan a fun trip here to visit, there will be a weekend full of classes early in the new year that you won’t want to miss!

Just saying, great Christmas gift my friends…..

2. I saw and fell in love with a new line while in Orlando. FarmHouse Paper Company debuted at Summer CHA and the quality is fabulous! And you all know how much I love a mini album right? Well, the ones they have are spectacular, hint hint! 🙂

Oh, and my picture made it on their blog – check out how much fun we were all having!

3. Today is the 12th and I’m sure you all know what that means….

Pictures! Who’s going to join me in taking 12 on Twelve? This is one of my favourite projects, love this little clip of everyday life once a month!

4. I’m very excited to go out with my scrappy friends tonight! A couple of times a year we get ourselves organized and go for dinner. So far, we have a list of 15 – I hope Oppidan is ready for us, we can get a little rowdy! 🙂

5. I’m looking forward to a great weekend. I’m taking a class from Rae Lynn on Saturday (check out my Paperie Pick blog post on Classes, it should be up later today)

…and Darrell is doing a photowalk. Hopefully the sunny fall weather will hold and we’ll get some time feeding the ducks in the park too!

Hope you all have a great weekend, whatever you’re doing!

LO Tag, My Mind's Eye, Ranger

I finished another LO tag a little while ago and had fun with a bit of mist, a great stamp set, and a picture of my baby flying a kite….

let’s go fly a kite

I’m really and truly terrible at titles and lately I’ve found myself unintentionally using songs titles and lyrics.

What do you use for titles? Or are you one of those title making geniuses that I envy? 🙂

And Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians – enjoy your turkey and your family time!

1. As you’re reading this I”m flying to Orlando! Yay! I’m headed off for four days of classes and workshop with the best in the industry at the Collins Rep show. I’m excited – the show in Houston last year was fabulous so I know what to anticipate this year and it makes me even more eager to be there!

2. Aussie Scrap Source has a great tutorial on altering pictures with paint. I definitely have to try out the first technique, the sample looks amazing!

3. I love this card by Shari Carroll. It looks fabulous and is so easy! I took a Hero Arts class from her in Houston last year and she and Jennifer McGuire were amazing! Unfortunately, neither are there this year but I’m sure the HA teachers will live up to my expectations!

4. Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is up to her creative genius again! She has an awesome  tutorial on how to make your own vellum leaves – a must try!

5. There’s a few videos here on the new Ranger Metallic Distress Stains. I don’t think I need to tell you that I’m excited to be trying those this weekend with Tim Holtz! 🙂

I’ll be away from blog land until late next week but look for a full post then about the Collins Rep Show!

Yearlong Album Class – October 2012

02 Tuesday Oct 2012

2012 Yearlong Album, Simple Stories, Year.o.graphy

Yesterday was not only Monday but it was *a* Monday. Know what I mean? Yeah. Nothing that was supposed to get done got done and I was very happy when the day was over!

So here I am today, trying to play catch up a little and post yesterday’s blog – which means that the Tuesday Technique post is not happening this week…. and probably not next either, since I’ll be out of town. 😦

Moving on!

On Sunday I taught the October LO class for the ongoing Yearlong Album at The Paperie. Following the same trend as the past two years, October has turned out to be my favourite design!

Because we’re using 8.5 x 11 pages, the LO’s are pretty simple, leaving lots of room for pictures – we do have to fit an entire month’s worth of photos on here! 🙂

The “Count your blessings” panel is actually a pocket, we have one on each monthly LO for all those bits and bobs of memorabilia we collect, and there’s some fun random stamping and glitter happening here too.

We also completed a bonus LO that was inspired by Cathie’s sunburst and pie chart class at the Paperie last week. I offset my centre point but used the same basic principle and I love how the papers from Simple Stories worked for it – the sunburst looks awesome!

We also talked about the next Yearlong Album class (yes, I’m doing it again!) and it’s going to be changed up a bit next year! Think less themed pages, way more technique, and the album will be more flexible. What I mean is that if you don’t want a yearlong album because you’re doing Project Life, for example, it doesn’t need to be. It can be a basis for a Book of Me (Rae Lynn will be teaching a series of Book of Me LO’s and we’re hoping the two classes can work together, size-wise!) or a special moments album, or whatever you like!

People are already asking when registration begins so if you want in this year, keep checking the Paperie blog for when that will open – it sold out quick last year!
