#50 – Make a beautiful mess

I recently got some black gesso and decided to use it on an index card. It didn’t turn out as planned! So I took some old paper towel and adhered it with gel medium. Because of the black base, it turned out pretty dark which is why I added Golden Light Molding Paste over the Peony stencil to cover the majority of the card – it lightened it up quite a bit, thank goodness!

I heat set the molding paste, since I like the look when it puffs up, then added the sentiment from some Cosmo Cricket word stickers.

After a bad start, I really like how it turned out! And the detail from the stencil is awesome!

Here’s a bonus for you today – M did one last index card!

Of course, she had to use the “sparkly pots” aka my Twinkling H2O’s and she covered the whole card in gold. She then painted little wood veneer people and when the card was dry, stuck them on. She’s pretty minimalist, so she said that was it!

I love the colours she used!

#51 – Be true…

This is one of my recent faves – I love the bright colours!

I first added molding paste over another new stencil, Zinnia, and then misted with my Dylusions Ink Sprays. I added a couple of stamps but it was still just not quite right. Β Then I saw the mask left over from card #48 and since it was covered in a different colour mist, I added it to the mix.

Love how it turned out! I little bit of colouring and some more Cosmo Cricket word stickers and it was done!

That’s all I have ready to show you, but there will be a few more in the next little while – I just need to get the time to complete them! πŸ™‚

I’m so sorry. My mojo is still in hiding so you have to suffer through another blerg card. You can leave now and come back tomorrow, I don’t mind, really!

Still here? Well, don’t say you weren’t warned….

Another premade background, this time with flexible molding paste and coarse pumice gel – the texture is amazing!

I painted each little block with different coloured Twinkling H2O’s, then misted with water to blend them all a little. I blotted with a paper towel and thought, “Blech.” Seriously. That was the word that came to my mind.

I took a Cosmo Cricket phrase sticker, cut it up, stuck it down and drew lines around the pieces. Then I coloured in the word “color.” Then I inked some wood veneer pieces and stuck them down. Then I threw my hands in the air and called it done.

The texture and shimmer is cool I guess. I’m sulking now….

Later, I’m finding my mojo, beating it into submission, and doing a good card. Or else.

A while back I saw a tutorial using Ranger Foil Tape and alcohol inks. I loved the concept and kept meaning to try it but….. You know how it goes!

However, my friend Cathie gave it a spin and then did a couple of other things with tin foil and I knew I had to just go do it!

I used Matte multi medium to adhere tin foil to a cad (basically, I was too lazy to go downstairs and look for my Foil Tape!) and let it dry. I then used my Twinkling H2O’s to paint the surface. Although you can’t see the shimmer, the colours are fabulous!

I used a couple of stencils and Dylusions Ink sprays to add some additional interest and finished it by adding a Cosmo Cricket sticker.

It was super hard to get a pic of the texture, shine, and colour – crossing my fingers that you can see it well enough!

Easy and fun and I have a couple of other ideas for foil tape. Hopefully it won’t take so long to get around to doing them this time!

Archival Ink, Cosmo Cricket, Distress Markers, Dylusions, ICAD, ICAD2, Ranger, Stamper's Anonymous

I was a bit of a slacker over the weekend and didn’t blog my ICAD’s – oops! You’ll get an overload today! πŸ™‚

This one is actually super simple – I wanted to play with my new stamps and the Distress Marker over gesso technique I used on the house card.

I slopped on some gesso and heat it so the gesso bubbled and popped – lots of fun texture!

I then stamped the circles from Around the Edge with Jet Black Archival Ink and coloured them with different Distress Markers. I used my finger to smear and lighten the markers, making some darker areas where I first laid down the ink.

I then distressed some word stickers and added them to finish it off.

I just have to say, the more I use Stamper’s Anonymous Stamps, the more I love them – the quality is amazing!

Yesterday was the last class for the 2011 Year Long Album at The Paperie. And as much as I loved the project and the papers, I’m glad it’s finally over Β and I can say goodbye to it and hello to the 2012 Year Long Album. As I told the girls yesterday, by the end of the year, I am so done with looking at the same papers! That being said, what we used was perfect and looked amazing – October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket Collection Packs (these looked like they were designed to go together!), October Afternoon Label Stickers, American Crafts 12×12 Modern AlbumΒ in Cardinal, and We R Memory KeepersΒ page protectors. Then we added to the base kit as we went along – some of the extras were Perfect Pearls Pigment Kits, Technique Tuesday stamp sets, and Sticky Back Canvas.

Here’s a quick look at what we accomplished over the past year:

Album Cover

Inside Cover

The October Afternoon Collection Pack came with two of these die cut houses showing the outside and inside of the house. They may have been my favourite part of the kit! We added some gingerbread trim, cut open the door and added a dog on a rug. For the back cover, we flipped the house over and added our own family pictures to the living room!

October

This is one of a favourite spreads – I love the canvas pumpkins and ghosts! The Distress Inks over the canvas gave an amazing texture. The leaves are Kraft Glassine and Perfects Pearls and have a great shine and colour in real life. As you can see, I haven’t quite finished putting all my pictures in the album. With the exception of December, they’re all printed and ready to go, I’m just a month or two behind!

Getting fat!

Between each double spread, I inserted an 8.5 x 11 page protector to hold the kiddies art pieces, birthday cards, loot bags and party invitations I made, and all sorts of bits and bobs that normally get stuffed into a cupboard somewhere! The album is a great place to store them and keep them organized but it leads to a very fat book – and I don’t have the November or December stuff in there yet, yikes!

However, apart from another hour’s work inserting pictures, it’s finished! Now, onto the next one, I have big things planned for the basic kit! πŸ˜‰

2012 Year Long Album Peek

Have a great one – the weather is beautiful for sliding here today!
