background: The kiddos are in the basement trying to get rid of a big creepy crawly bug of some kind…..

Gabe: I’m freaking out!

Molly: No, Gabe! You have to save us!

Gabe: But I’m really freaking out! (he sounds pretty excited to me. Just saying. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Molly: You’re Gabe the Brave, you can do it!

(Gabe comes upstairs): I need socks and shoes.

Me: Why?

Gabe (looking determined and thrilled): So I can squash it dead! Yeah! (insert fist pump here)

Gabe the Brave - bug killer extraordinaire

Gabe the Brave – bug killer extraordinaire

They’re a blood thirsty crew, my lot.

For the record, he squashed it dead *and* cleaned up the bug guts!

G and his funny sayings..., Gabe, kids

Gabe had a little adventure and lunch out with my best friend late last week – just the two of them. Over lunch they were talking about favourite foods.

G: I love peanut butter.

S (my friend): We don;t have peanut butter. It would make Rachel sick and she would have to go to the hospital.

G: Oh. Well, if Molly picked up a fork and stabbed me in the eye, I’d have to go to the hospital too!

I’m not quite sure where I got him…

G and his funny sayings...

The kiddies and I are spending the weekend at the cabin with friends. While eating supper, Gabe leaned in on the table and got all of our attention:

“Hey guys,ย  I got a secret to tell you.”

We all stopped talking, looked at him and he said, “Fart gun!”

Oh, the joys of a four year old boy!

G and his funny sayings...

G: Can we go to Tricia’s house for a little while?

Me: No, my baby, Tricia is sick.

G: What’s wrong with her?

Me: Oh, she has a really bad throat and her ears hurt.

G: We should bring Tricia an orange.

Me: Why should we bring her an orange?

G: Because oranges always help when people are sick.

G - Sweet boy

My boy is the sweetest. ๐Ÿ™‚

G and his funny sayings..., Kiddies

So D took the kids to have their pictures taken with Santa today and of course, he asked what they wanted for Christmas. M said a Lego friends treehouse (hint, hint Uncle Matthew) and G said “I want a light bulb. ”

And he was dead serious. ๐Ÿ™‚

Family, G and his funny sayings..., kids

So D and I were in the kitchen the other day – I was making pancakes, he was playing games on his phone – and the kiddies were playing legos in the living room. All was, for the first time ever in the history of our house, quiet. And I said as much to D.

Suddenly, I hear this little pitter patter of feet. They get to the kitchen, stop for a moment, and then run back to the living room.

Then we hear the three-year-old whisper (you know the one – a whisper for him, a regular voice for us) and he says to M, “They’re being really quiet in there!”

He seemed as shocked and disconcerted by the quiet as we were!

G (while eating ice cream from Bergs): Ummmmm, deee-licious!

(on a side note, we started toilet training today – so far, not as horrific as I was expecting, only one major cleanup! Fingers crossed for tomorrow…)
